Rumors of the reclusive Order of Saint Gabineaux have circulated throughout Ishgard for what seems like centuries. Some claim it to be fictitious, while others swear that they have had family among its ranks. While many of the whispers are different, one thing remains the same: the mages and mystics of the order are powerful, well-connected, and lack scruples. It matters not if you wish to hex your enemy or have a curse broken, there is surely a brother of the order who can assist. Assuming you are willing to make deals with devils.The Order of Saint Gabineaux opens its door once a moon to outsiders. Once known to be an exclusive Gentleman's Club by the name of Cambray House, Jackdaw's was recently purchased by Baroness Selaine de Lanverlais as a betrothal gift for her new husband Lord Sebastian of House Vairemont. Now under new ownership and management, Jackdaw's has shifted from a gentleman's club into a high-end dueling club that is happy to host any and all who wish to partake in duels of honor or sport. Come to bet, duel, box, or drink. None will be turned away as long as they are properly dressed and have the right amount of coin.

.  FAQ  .Is Jackdaw's a private club for members only?
No. All Jackdaw's events are open to the public. No membership or invitations are required.
Characters who are not of the wealthy class or the nobility are still welcome, though they may be looked down upon by staff and guests alike.Is there a dress code?
Yes. Jackdaw's expects guests to arrive in, at least, cocktail attire. Those planning to fight are welcome to arrive in their dueling leathers or any other attire they might prefer. All guests are to be properly dressed. Nudity is not allowed and anyone breaking this rule will be removed.Is Jackdaw's a gentleman's club?
No. Jackdaw's is open to any and all who wish to partake in dueling or betting. No membership is required and no gender restrictions are imposed.What is a Jackdaw?
A small black and grey corvid. A bird related to both ravens and crows.Is Jackdaw's only for fencing?
No. Duels in Jackdaw's can be with any bladed weapon or with bare fists. There are limitations listed on our Dueling page, but the intent is to facilitate an upscale dueling experience with most martial weapons.

RULES

.  RULE ONE  .  Staff and guests must be 21+ both ICly and OOCly. If a player is found to have misrepresented their age they will be immediately removed from the discord and will no longer be welcome at in-game events..  RULE TWO  .  It is our goal to make Jackdaw's a welcoming space for all who attend. Which means that all guests must be respectful to those around them. We will not tolerate slurs, hate speech, racism, sexism, or any form of harassment. Just don’t be an ass..  RULE THREE   .  Jackdaw's is an LGBTQ+ owned venue and an open and accepting space for all members of the community. Homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia will not be tolerated..  RULE FOUR   . IC does not equal OOC. We expect everyone to keep this boundary firmly in place..  RULE FIVE   . While weapons are both expected and welcome inside Jackdaw's, drawing any weapon outside of the dueling ring will result in the character's immediate expulsion. Unsanctioned acts of violence will not be tolerated. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be banned from all future Jackdaw's events.

.  RULE SIX   . While the venue and discord server are 21+ and the SFW areas may feature cursing, references to drinking and drugs, or the passing mention of sex, we ask that you keep anything more significant than that in the labeled NSFW channels. Do not post the following content in NSFW channels for any reason: graphic depictions of assault/abuse, anything that would suggest or imply a lack of consent (consensual non-consent is included in this), NSFW depictions of lalafell, and underage individuals..  RULE SEVEN  .  Jackdaw's is not an ERP venue. Please do not attempt to ERP in the server or in the venue. If you find that your RP is drifting in that direction, we ask that you please take that to a private space so as to not cause any discomfort to those who do not wish to engage with it..  RULE EIGHT  .  While we all love our IC drama, we prefer that OOC drama be left at the door. Please attempt to settle any OOC issues in DMs before involving a member of staff. Please do not bring drama into public discord channels or into IC spaces.

Dueling Rules

.  RULE ONE  . No magic. No Guns. No bows. No Poison. Jackdaw's aims to facilitate duels of honor and sport between those who wield blades and fists. Any who enter the ring should intend to test only their martial prowess..  RULE TWO  .  No killing. Jackdaw's is an upscale establishment that intends to provide a civilized and noble way to settle debts or test your mettle. Blood is inevitable, but aiming to kill will not only result in permanent removal from the club, you might just find yourself visited by the Temple Knights..  RULE THREE   .  No godmodding. You are only in control of your character, their actions, and the damage they take. Attempting to control your opponent's actions will result in you being asked to leave..  RULE FOUR   . Be prepared for RNG. Jackdaw's uses Grindstone rules and as such everyone is at the mercy of the dice. We understand that it isn't always fun to lose, but please enter the dueling ring with the understanding that you may, in fact, lose..  RULE FIVE   . All characters will be offered healing after their duel. Characters are entitled to refuse healing if they see fit. Characters who opt out of healing will not be allowed back in the dueling ring for the remainder of the evening.

.  HOW TO SCHEDULE A DUEL:  . Duels can be scheduled in one of two ways. If you have a duel of honor that needs settling, please feel free to reach out in our discord to be added to the schedule. If you wish for a duel of sport, you need only show up and add your character's name to the list and you will be paired with another seeking to tell their skill..  FISTS OR BLADES?  . While Jackdaw's typically facilitates duels of mixed weaponry, those looking for a traditional bout of boxing (or a traditional clash of rapiers) should let the booking attendant know so we can pair people properly. As we will not always be able to match you against your preferred weapon, we recommend those who seek something specific to arrive with their dueling partner already chosen..  MECHANICS  . Jackdaw's uses Grindstone rules for all duels. Please follow the simple rules listed below.➤ Both participants will roll /random. The character with the highest roll (Player A) attacks first.
➤ Player A writes up their attack in /yell and then rolls /random. Player B rolls /random to defend. Highest roll wins.
➤ Player B then writes their post which should include their defense (success or failure) and their attack. Both players will roll /random again and the duel will continue on as above.
➤ The duel ends when one opponent manages three hits.

Betting Rules

.  HOW TO PLACE A BET  .
In order to place a bid please seek out a Jackdaw's bookmaker. If you are unsure who they are, feel free to ask any member of staff and they will point you in the correct direction..  ON THE USE OF GIL  .
Jackdaw's is a gil-free venue. All gil exchanged in RP is 'RP Gil'. Real gil is not required to participate in betting on duels. This is an RP opportunity only. No staff member will ever ask you for real gil..  UNSANCTIONED BETTING  .
Unsanctioned and otherwise off the books betting is generally frowned upon. Jackdaw's prefers that all bets be handled by the house. Those caught cooking illicit books may find themselves on the wrong side of management. Feel free to test this boundary if you are looking for an interesting RP hook..  MINIMUM BETS  .
The minimum bet for each fight is 50,000 gil. Characters may bet more. They cannot bet less. Attempts to bet less may result in gossip about their social and financial standing, after all. Which should be a sufficient enough deterrent from getting involved when one cannot afford it..  PAYOUT   .
When your fighter proves to be a winner, seek out the bookmaker you placed your bet with to receive your winnings. Jackdaw's typically pays out double the initial bet, but it is possible to negotiate other terms with your bookmaker..  ON LOSS  .
Those who lose their bets will forfeit their gil to the house. If they are found to have placed the bet without the ability to pay, the bookmaker will seek out both management and security to handle the debt. Jackdaw's does not accept payment in the form of promissory notes or payment plans, but may accept valuable physical property instead of gil. This is at the discretion of the bookmaker in question. If you are entirely unable to settle your debts, you will be removed by security, banned from the premises, and management will make certain that all of Ishgard knows of your financial failings.
